About Tett Safaris

Van Der Rohe noted “the devil is in the details” - a saying that never rang more true than in the planning and execution of a successful African safari.

For more than 30 years I have tackled immense challenges, designing and managing custom safaris for travelers seeking an unmatched journey, unique to foreign travel and cultural experiences.

After graduating from The University of California, Berkeley, I worked in London at White & Case law firm. But I knew my passion was beyond the practice of law and after my first safari to Africa in 1989, I knew right away that the safari industry was my calling.

In 1991, I co-founded a luxury safari company, headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Our unique approach was quickly recognized as a result of the support of our dedicated staff and family in Africa and the U.S. In just a few years we became one of the preeminent providers of African safaris. This was made possible through the combination of exceptional service, unique understanding of travel in Africa, local partnerships and an intimate understanding of the African wildlife in their natural setting.

Our distinctive approach was recognized early on by the American Museum of Natural History, and we had the opportunity to operate safaris on the museum’s behalf as well as National Geographic Expeditions, Stanford Travel Study, and numerous other organizations of national stature. We hosted more than11,000 guests traveling in more than 33 countries throughout Africa. Our intimate and exceptional experience resulted in a business predominately of repeat and referral travelers. I have had the opportunity to personally lead tours on behalf of the California Academy of Science and The American Museum of Natural History.

Our attention to detail and team approach was relentless. Our longtime exposure to luxury adventure travel and continuous site visits to the distinctive regions of Africa drove our unique growth.  As experts in global and local issues we stayed ahead of the political and travel related challenges, and advanced or position as a leader in premier African adventures.

However, I had a higher vison.  I was inspired to create an unapparelled one-on-one guest experience. I began to visualize an even more intimate safari planning process, bringing my guests into a truly immersive encounter; Tett Safaris.

Tett Safaris’ guests now benefit from working directly with me to create a custom designed safari. Having once undergone this new exploration I am excited to expand my guests’ vison of Africa and invite everyone to see other regions of this amazing continent.  Smaller wildlife camps and intimate lodges are a driving focus of Tett Safaris itineraries, customized to individuals, couples and multi-generational families. Local cultural interchanges can be organized to provide an all-inclusive Africa experience. Concierge service is the foundation of our company culture and guests’ expectations.

Our guests play an active part in the conservation of this amazing natural resource by booking a safari with Tett Safaris.  We donate 10% of the profits of every safari to the Wilderness Wildlife Trust, a non-profit entity that focuses on three key areas:  Research & Conservation, Community Empowerment & Education and Anti-poaching & Management.

After three decades traveling continent-wide, I maintain there is always something new to experience in Africa. Nothing ensures the authentic view of this amazing continent more than an insider’s experience, knowledge and guidance.

I look forward to working with you to create your own custom safari designed for an exclusive wildlife experience.

Welcome to Tett Safaris.
