DESTINATION
Windhoek, Namibia
With a mixture of colonial German architecture and freedom memorials, Namibia’s capital city combines the perfect blend of people with varied backgrounds, tribes, and nationalities. The highland plateau, surrounded by mountains, serves as a gateway for travelers exploring Namibia’s natural wonders and cultures.
ACCOMMODATION | 1 NIGHT
Hotel Heinitzburg
This turreted castle was built just over a century ago, by a German Count for his fiancé. Now a hotel, its interiors are lavishly decorated with extensive views over Windhoek and surrounding hills.
Travel Itinerary: Day 2-4
DESTINATION
Sossusvlei, Namibia
The sensuous curves and crests of these vividly orange sand dunes just begged to be climbed. Rising to almost 1,000 ft, this vast desert has some of the highest sand dunes in the world. At night you will witness some of the starriest skies you have ever seen. Take a hot air balloon ride to grasp the expanse of this desert or hop onto an electric quad bike to make some fast work of experiencing the surrounding dunes and riverbanks.
ACCOMMODATION | 2 NIGHTS
Sossusvlei Desert Lodge
Stone and glass suites with a vanishing edge pool are set amidst an ocean of dunes and rocky outcrops in the world’s oldest desert. The beautiful clarity of light and pristine night sky shining through your open skylight are otherworldly.
Travel Itinerary: Day 4-6
DESTINATION
Damaraland, Namibia
Damaraland transitions between arid environments of semi-desert, savanna, shrubland, and rock outcrops, yet the Haub River offers the local wildlife a plentiful water-source; kudu, springbok, and oryx all come to drink, which brings in the mightier game such as desert-adapted rhino and elephants, and lion and cheetah. Bushman artwork can be found here, which attests to man and animal coexisting in this area for quite some time.
ACCOMMODATION | 2 NIGHTS
Desert Rhino Camp
In this wide valley, sometimes flush with grass, exists a miraculous ecosystem supporting critically endangered desert-adapted rhino, which you track on foot or vehicle from camp. Freshwater springs also support desert elephants, antelopes, and predators like lions and brown hyenas.
Travel Itinerary: Day 6-9
DESTINATION
Hoanib, Namibia
Damaraland transitions between arid environments of semi-desert, savanna, shrubland, and rock outcrops, yet the Haub River offers the local wildlife a plentiful water-source; kudu, springbok, and oryx all come to drink, which brings in the mightier game such as desert-adapted rhino and elephants, and lion and cheetah. Bushman artwork can be found here, which attests to man and animal coexisting in this area for quite some time.
ACCOMMODATION | 3 NIGHTS
Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp
There’s a peaceful other-worldliness in this starkly beautiful scenery that you’ll never forget. Bushman paintings hide amongst rocks and freshwater springs give succor to antelopes, lion and desert-adapted elephants and rhinos, while the Skeleton coast has seal colonies numbering thousands.
Travel Itinerary: Day 9-12
DESTINATION
Etosha National Park South, Namibia
Heat-haze mirages rise up from Etosha’s vast salt pans, where a menagerie of wildlife stand about: herds of oryx antelopes, ostriches, giraffes and elephants. The seasonal rains feed the freshwater springs, creating a haven for wildlife large and small. Lilac-breasted rollers swoop by, and swarms of starlings weave in and out of brush. This is prime waterhole watching!
ACCOMMODATION | 3 NIGHTS
Ongava Tented Camp
This camp seems like a natural extension of the bush, and the wildlife can't tell the difference because they drink from both the waterhole and swimming pool! Ongava is one of the largest custodians of Namibia's rhinos.
