I’m always pretty leery of the typical tourist “cultural experience” when I’m traveling. It seems awkward and uninviting to leer into a tribal village like a scheduled spectator. Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park, Uganda

Have you ever heard the cacophony of a troop of chimpanzees? Most likely your first experience with that noise level was from a safe distance at the zoo, watching them frolic and roll, their play punctuated here and there with a quick screech of dislike or warning.

However, visiting chimpanzees in their natural habitat and listening to their primal screams was an experience that made the hairs on my arms stand up.
